NSF REU 2026

NSF REU opportunity

I am excited to announce a summer research opportunity through the NSF Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.

What is REU?

The REU program provides undergraduate students with hands-on research experience in cutting-edge topics in computer science and engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to:

  • Work on meaningful research projects in machine learning, graph neural networks, and AI
  • Gain valuable experience for graduate school applications or industry careers
  • Receive a competitive stipend rate for your 10 week summer work (up to 40 hours per week)
  • Collaborate with faculty and graduate students
  • Potentially contribute to publishable research

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate students
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Strong interest in computer science research
  • No prior research experience required - enthusiasm and willingness to learn are what matter most

What to Expect

  • Duration: Typically 10 weeks during summer 2026
  • Format: Full-time research commitment
  • Mentorship: Close guidance from faculty and graduate students
  • Deliverables: Research presentation and/or written report at program conclusion

Assistant Prof.

I am an Assistant Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at Mississippi State University, focusing on dynamics over graphs (see details of my research interests). I obtained my Ph.D. at Virginia Tech in 2020, under the supervision of Dr. Chang-Tien Lu. For students interested in me, check ways to work with me. If interested in my courses, please check the course syllabi.
